Wine Education for all
Ever since the Association was formed fifty years ago wine education has been at the forefront of our activities. We are the leading provider of WSET courses in our region, offering the full range of awards right up to and including Diploma with Honours. We train 100 or more people every year and our students achieve excellent results, often gaining prizes and scholarships.
We pride ourselves on the calibre of our lecturers who include many Masters of Wine and experts in their field. Courses are held in Bristol but can also be arranged anywhere in the southwest if sufficient numbers can be gathered in one location.
You do not have to be a member of the West of England Wine & Spirit Association to enrol. While you are studying with us and for two years afterwards you enjoy free membership of the Association.

Level 2 - Intermediate Certificate in Wines and Spirits (link opens new window) Cost: £295
The fee includes all materials, WSET study pack and exam, and 6 ISO tasting glasses. Students will also need to bring something to spit into, plus a cloth to dry their glasses after washing. The full programme will be issued on the first day of the course, but will cover the following topics:
- Tasting Technique and Food and Wine Matching
- Wine Service and Storage
- Viticulture.and Vinification
- The Major Grape Varieties and their interpretation around the World
- The Wines of France
- German Wines
- Wines of Italy, Spain and Portugal
- Wines of the Americas and Southern Hemisphere
- Sparkling Wines
- Fortified Wines and Spirits

Level 2 - Professional Certificate in Spirits (link opens new window) Cost:
This spirits course gives a greater breadth and depth of knowledge in the specific area of spirits and liqueurs.

Level 4 - Diploma in Wines and Spirits (link opens new window) Cost: £1750 per semester (two semesters)
The Diploma is a specialist qualification where detailed knowledge is combined with commercial factors and a thorough system for the professional evaluation of wines and spirits. The courses are held on Wednesdays at the Masonic Hall, Keynsham and start at 9.30am and finish at 4.30pm.

Level 5 - Honours Diploma (link opens new window) Cost: £235 (two semesters - £75 of the fee currently paid by the Association)
The WSET Level 5 Honours Diploma is an individual research project that enables students to develop skills in research, evaluation and analysis in a wine and spirit related subject of their choice. This qualification is open to anyone holding the WSET Level 4 Diploma.
